Socrates (according to Plato's account),after speaking with a man who had a reputation for being wise,determined ,"I am better off than he is .For he knows nothing and and thinks that he knows.I neither know nor think that I know ."For Socrates,being at a position of ignorance was the only method of seeking truth-with no guarantee of finding it.
